Dr. Eng. Yunus Daud, Dipl.Geotherm.Tech, M.Sc
Founder of PT NewQuest Geotechnology

Dr. Yunus is a prominent geothermal expert in Indonesia with more than 25 years experiences in geothermal exploration, resource assessment, well targeting as well as drilling evaluation of geothermal area. Yunus has been involved in many geothermal development projects in Indonesia, both from Sumatra and Java, as well as the eastern archipelago. In addition, he contributed to the geothermal development in Tawau, Malaysia.

He is also an academician and researcher at the Department of Geoscience, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Indonesia. His research colleagues come from universities and research institutions in Indonesia and overseas, especially New Zealand, Japan, and Netherland. Dr. Yunus’s scientific publications can be seen on his google scholar. He owns 7 copyrighted geothermal software for geoscience data processing and modeling.

Dr. Yunus obtained Doctor’s degree in Exploration Geophysics from the Department of Earth Resources Engineering, Kyushu University, Japan, with the dissertation title “Geophysical Studies Over the Sibayak Geothermal Field (Indonesia)”. He holds B.Sc and M.Sc from Universitas Indonesia, while his Dipl.Geotherm.Tech title from Geothermal Institute, University of Auckland, New Zealand.


Surya Aji Pratama
Manager of Business Development Division

Surya has been a part of NewQuest Geotechnology since its inception in 2011. His expertise includes: planning and execution of geothermal development in green field area, assessment of geothermal reserves, geothermal economic analyst, acquisition, processing, and modelling of geoscientific data, especially a geophysical data (Magnetotelluric, Gravity, and Geomagnetic). He has been involved for field development at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Mt Pancar (West Java), Simbolon-Samosir (Nort Sumatra), Mt. Lawu (Central Java), Tampomas (West Java), Muara Laboh (West Sumatra), Rajabasa (Lampung), Blawan-Ijen (East Java), and the latest is in 3 geothermal working area (WKP) owned by PLN: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java).

Surya obtained his Master degree in Geothermal Exploration Program from Universitas Indonesia. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Geophysics) from same university. His thesis title is “Integrated Analysis of Magnetotelluric and Gravity Data for Delineating Reservoir Zone at Patuha Geothermal Field West Java”.


Wambra Aswo Nuqramadha
Manager of Technology Development Division

In 2011, Wambra started his career in geothermal as a junior geophysicist which has responsibility in MT data processing and modeling. During his work experiences in NewQuest Geotechnology, he has been developing as a geophysicist and contributed in a dozen geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Wayang-Windu (West Java), Simbolon-Samosir (North Sumatra), Mt. Arjuno-Welirang, Mt. Lamongan, Mt. Raung, and Blawan-Ijen (East Java), Kaldera Danau Banten (Banten), Muara Laboh (West Sumatra), Rajabasa (Lampung), Rantau Dedap (South Sumatra), Kepahiang (Bengkulu), Tulehu & Hamiding (Maluku), Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java). As a geophysicist, he responsible to plan, execute, and monitor the geophysical projects, including ensuring the quality of geophysical data, conducting analysis and interpretation regarding subsurface imaging from geophysical models, as well as preparing reports and presentations.

Wambra obtained his Master degree in Geothermal Exploration Program from Universitas Indonesia. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Geophysics) from same university. His thesis title is “Analysis of Subsurface Geological Structure Using Magnetotelluric and Gravity Data”.


Agus Sulistyo
Assistant Manager of Business Development Division

Agus has worked in geothermal field since in 2010. He has joined with NewQuest Geotechnology since 2013. His expertise includes: planning and execution of geothermal exploration, assessment of geothermal reserves, acquisition, processing, and geophysical data modelling such as Magnetotelluric, Gravity, and Geomagnetic. He has been involved for exploration of geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Mt Pancar (West Java), Tampomas (West Java), Blawan-Ijen (East Java), Darajat (West Java) and also delivering Pre-Feasibility Study in PLN’s WKP: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java). He also involved in NewQuest Geotechnology’s geothermal project in many geothermal area across the country.

Agus obtained his Master degree in Geothermal Exploration Program from Universitas Indonesia. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Geophysics) from same university. His thesis title is “Comprehensive Analysis to Delineate Geothermal Systems Using 3D Inversion of Gravity, Geomagnet and Magnetoteluric Data on Blawan-Ijen Geothermal Field”.


Fikri Fahmi
Assistant Manager as Technology Development Division

Fikri has worked as a geophysicist at NewQuest Geotechnology since 2013. His expertise includes: acquisition, processing, and modelling of geoscientific data, especially a geophysical data (Magnetotelluric, TDEM, gravity, and geomagnetic). He has been involved for field development at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Blawan-Ijen (East Java), Wayang Windu (West Java), Kepahiang (Bengkulu), and the latest is in 3 geothermal working area (WKP) owned by PLN: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java).

Fikri obtained his Master degree in Geothermal Exploration Program from Universitas Indonesia. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics (Geophysics) from same university. His thesis is Oceanic Model in 3-D inversion of Magnetotelluric data in geothermal area.


Mohamad Lutfi Ismail
Deputy Manager of Software Development Division

Lutfi has worked in the energy industry with NewQuest Geotechnology since 2015 as geoscience software developer. He has specialized in improving data integration using 3D visualization technology, creating sophisticated database management, developing numerical simulation software, conducting digital signal processing, numerical analysis, and processing geoscientific data, especially geophysical data such as Magnetotelluric, Gravity, and Geomagnetic. He also has experience in designing software and geothermal databases with international collaboration such as 3JTech (Taiwan) and GSDS (New Zealand). His team’s software has been implemented in several geothermal field in Indonesia such as Darajat Geothermal Area, Hamiding Prospect Area, Raung and Krucil-Tiris Prospect Area.

He obtained bachelor degree in Physics from Universitas Indonesia with thesis entitled “Matlab Based Processing Noisy Magnetotelluric Data Using Digital Filter and Time Series Data Selection”. Recently, he starts his master degree in Computer Science Program in same university.


Yasir Arafat
Staff of Business Development Division

Employed by NewQuest Geotechnology since 2016, Yasir has experiences in several activities in geothermal sector. Yasir has participated on numerous projects, such as acquisition of gravity, gemomagnetic, and radon data in Mt. Pancar (West Java), gravity and geomagnetic survey in Blawan-Ijen (East Java), and collobaration with Ph.D student of Utrecht University to conduct Magnetotelluric data acquisition to investigate geological structures related to the Toba Caldera and the Sumatra Fault System in North Sumatra. In addition, Yasir is extensively trained in many geothermal exploration training, including how to educate people to get to know geothermal.

Yasir has Bachelor's degree in Physics and Master's degree in Geothermal Exploration Program from Universitas Indonesia. His thesis research is about coast effects on 3-D Magnetotelluric inversion for a geothermal field in Flores Island, eastern Indonesia.


Rhyno Senbyla Sesesega
Geologist at Technology Development Division

During 6 years of his career in the geothermal industry, Rhyno has worked on projects in many regions. His work focuses on carrying out and organizing geothermal exploration, specifically in the field of geological mapping. Rhyno also specializes in the utilization of GIS and remote sensing analysis for geology. This is very useful for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of the exploration stage. Other areas of specialization are field geologic methods, brittle microtectonics analysis, geological interpretation, and conceptual modeling of geothermal resources.

Rhyno received a B.Eng. of Geological Engineering (minor in Geothermal and Remote Sensing) from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2015 with a thesis entitled "The Tectonic Effect of Sumatran Fault on Geological Structure Formation in Southern Lebong, Bengkulu Province".


Magdalena Ari Tifani
Geologist at Technology Development Division

Magda has worked as an assistant geologist since joined NewQuest Geotechnology in 2018. His expertise includes: doing remote sensing to build a hypothetical geothermal concept, geological mapping in geothermal remote area, and processing geological data with ArcGIS software. She has been involved for field development at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), Tangkuban Parahu (West Java), and Tulehu (Maluku).

Magda obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering from Universitas Gadjah Mada. Her thesis title is “Drainage Pattern Study for Interpretating Bedrock and Geological Structure in Gedangsari-Bayat, Yogyakarta-Central Java Province”.


Palagan Paksina Sandhy
Geochemist at Technology Development Division

Palagan has worked as a geothermal expert since joined NewQuest Geotechnology in 2018. His expertise includes: thermal manifestation hunter, water dan gas sampling, geochemical data analysis. He has been involved for field development at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java).

Surya obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Universitas Indonesia. His thesis title “Bromelain Encapsulation on Hydrogel Chitosan-Poly(N-Vinyl Pirrolidone) Full IPN”.


Donny Isa Marianto Suryo Putro
Geophysicist at Technology Development Division

Donny started his career as a geophysicist at PT NewQuest Geotechnology in 2014. He had been an expert in the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for approximately 2 years, before finally rejoining PT NewQuest Geotechnology in 2018. His expertise is acquisition, processing and analysis geophysical data. And he has been involved in several geothermal area development projects in Indonesia, such as: Tandikat, Talamau, Lawang, Dingin, Tanjung Sakti, Bromo-Tengger-Semeru Prospect Area owned by PT Hitay Holdings; Ulumbu Geothermal Prospect Area owned by PT PLN Pusenlis; Raung and Tiris Geothermal Prospect Area owned by PT Hitay Holdings; Blawan-Ijen Geothermal Prospect Area owned by PT Medco Cahaya Geothermal; and the latest is in 3 geothermal working area (WKP) owned by PLN: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java).

Donny is a graduate of Physics (Geophysics) at Universitas Indonesia by taking thesis title “Delineation of Geothermal System Using 3-D Inversion of Magnetotelluric Data Integrated with Gravity Data”.


Diajeng Liati
Geophysicist of Technology Development Division

Diajeng has involved in geothermal exploration since 2014 and joined NewQuest Geotechnology in 2017. Her expertise includes: acquisition, processing, and modelling of geoscientific data, especially a geophysical data (Magnetotelluric, gravity, and geomagnetic). She has been involved for field exploration at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Mt. Marapi (West Sumatra), Mt Pancar (West Java), Blawan-Ijen (East Java), and the latest is in 3 geothermal working area (WKP) owned by PLN: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java).

Diajeng obtained her Bachelor degree in Physics (Geophysics) from Universitas Indonesia. Her bachelor thesis title “Study of Static Shift on Magnetotelluric (MT) Data using Averaging and Co-Kriging Corrections by the 3-Dimensional Forward Model in the Geothermal Field”.


Rivan Tri Yuono
Reservoir Engineer at Technology Development Division

In geothermal industry since 2014, Rivan has been working as a reservoir engineer. He has experiences on building a conceptual model and numerical model, reservoir simulation, wellbore simulation, monitoring data quality, preparing reports for projects, and manage the team effectively and efficiently

His expertise also includes analysis of well characteristics, production potential, and reservoir properties. He has developed, test, calibrated, and reviewed numerical reservoir models of geothermal fields in Indonesia, include Lahendong (North Sulawesi), Ulumbu (East Nusa Tenggara), Tulehu (Maluku), and Mataloko (East Nusa Tenggara) fields.

Rivan has a Master’s degree in Geothermal Exploration from Universitas Indonesia and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the same university. His thesis is reservoir modeling using Tough2 and iTough2.


Faris Maulana Yunus
Reservoir Engineer at Technology Development Division

Faris has worked in geothermal field since in 2017. He has joined with NewQuest Geotechnology since February 2020. His expertise includes: geothermal conceptual modelling, reservoir simulation, acquisition, processing, and geophysical data modelling such as magnetotelluric, gravity, and geomagnetic. He has been involved for exploration of geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Blawan-Ijen (East Java), Cisolok (West Java), delivering pre-feasibility study in Tangkuban Parahu (West Java) and applying reservoir simulation in Tulehu (Maluku).

Faris obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics from Universitas Indonesia. His thesis title was “Development of Geothermal Conseptual Model Based on 3-Dimensional MT Data and Reservoir Simulation Using Simulation TOUGH2 /iTOUGH2 in Tulehu Field (Maluku)”.


Wahyu Noor Ichwan
Software Developer at Software Development Division

Wahyu started his career in NewQuest Geotechnology as a geophysicists since 2015. His expertise includes: acquisition, processing, and modelling of geophysical data (Magnetotelluric, Gravity, Geomagnet, and TDEM), coding ability in several programming language (python, fortran, c++, vba) which support geophysical works. He has been involved for field development at numerous geothermal fields in Indonesia, such as Mt Pancar (West Java), Lake Toba (North Sumatra), Mt. Lawu (Central Java), Blawan-Ijen (East Java), and three geothermal working areas (WKP) of PLN: Atadei (East Nusa Tenggara), Songa Wayaua (North Maluku), and Tangkuban Parahu (West Java). He is currently involved in Geoslicer-X visualization software development.

Wahyu obtained his Bachelor degree in Physics Program from Universitas Indonesia. His thesis title is “3D Inversion of Magnetotelluric Data by Using 1D Inversion of Magnetotelluric Data as Initial Model”.
